Why so many C1? Feel like dum-dum with my pitiful weak B2

I've voted B2, although I feel myself at C1, bc my reading and writing skills are disproportionally better than the oral speaking. And I have not a single chance to fix it. It's literally killing me, I feel so fcking dumb.

Wait, is it? I thought fanny was just another word for 'ass' (as in, butt', as in 'bottom, as in 'tushy', God almighty why does English have so many words for it?)

Yep, British slang word for pussy. And its meaning ass sounds a little old-fashioned to my ears

You reminded me. I always need to pause and remember how to pronounce that word properly. Fucking 'nececessary' all I get at first try.

Do y'all get fannish for Russian-language media too, or is it mostly imported stuff like Harry Potter or anime?

Imported stuff for me, thank you very much.

Re: English thread

Actually how the fuck you can differentiate brits from americans? Native english speakers can do that, I can't.

Difference in spelling? Idk. Same thing for me for spoken english. I can never guess if it's an american or a british accent, how the hell do you tell them apart.

By whether or not they pronounce their Rs?
I also tell Americans by t-flapping (butter sounds like budder), jod-dropping (news sounds more like nooz). There's more, of course, vowels too.
Oh, and vocabulary. Movie theater or cinema, you know
It gets a bit more interesting when it comes to telling American accents appart   :teeth:

Or did you mean in written text? Then vocablary, ou or o, z or s.

Nah, I'm talking about words they use, not accent. Like, flat and apartment. I remember only this one example, not even who supposed to use which. Anons above also mentioned different way british swear.

I believe vocabulary differences are excluded from the term accent altough I may be wrong.
But yes, swearing, truck and lorry, faucet and tap, you name it. Apartment is American, by the way :)

English as a second language, it's a common abbreviation in language teaching/learning field.

Honestly, it's not about figuring out, it's about rote learning. Just hammer it in your brain and at some point incorrect variants will start sounding off to you.

At the end, you can see our algorithm's best guess as to which English you speak as well as whether your first (native) language is English or something else.
