It is not in any way a dying language.

I know very little about Kazakhstan tbh, and my impression was Russian has mostly replaced Kazakh, at least in the cities.

As if, it's official language (russian is second official one), most kazakhs speak both kazakh and russian. Yeah, everyone else speaks in russian, but kazakhs are still majority here.

Why tho? No trolling, genuinely curious. You just personally dislike him or feel like his opinion is not valuable enough scientifically speaking?

I don't dislike him, I really don't care about him. I have read American Gods twice, and two weeks later after the first reading (it was ten years or so ago) I honestly couldn't remember even the protagonist's name; I re-read it this year and I was left completely indifferent again, though I can remember much more this time. I have never read any of his other books and probably never will. So why should I care about an opinion of a person who means nothing to me?
